Best time to go

May to October...Spring is best for festivals, flowers and local produce. Summer lots of sun for recharging, Autumn provides warm sea and many food festivals.

Weather

Spring & Autumn have nice weather and moderate temperatures. Summer months can be dry and hot.

Getting there

There are a few airports nearby. Piedmont - Turin and Genoa, Puglia - Brindisi and Bari. A car is essential to reach our Holiday homes and to stay independent.

Money and Costs

Currency is Euro. ATMs are widespread. Major credit cards are widely accepted, but some smaller shops, trattorias and bars might not take them. Tipps are generally included.

Customs & Etiquette

Dress - Cover shoulders, torso and thighs when visiting churches and dress smartly when eating out. At the table - Eat pasta with a fork; it's OK to eat pizza with your hands. Gifts - If invited to someone’s home, traditional gifts are a tray of dolci (sweets) from a pasticceria (pastry shop), a bottle of wine or flowers.

Health & Insurance

EU nationals are entitled to reduced-cost, sometimes free, medical care with a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), available from your home health authority. Non-EU citizens should take out medical insurance. Health care is readily available throughout Italy.
